Tensions continue to escalate in the Horn of Africa following a memorandum of understanding that Ethiopia signed with the Republic of Somaliland earlier this month. Under the agreement, Ethiopia will establish a military base and a commercial maritime zone. However, the agreement has angered Somalia and has also caused dissatisfaction among multiple stakeholders. Global leaders, including the United Nations have urged Addis Ababa and Mogadishu to open dialogue to settle their dispute.
